Intramural Open 21.3 & 21.4 RESULTS!

THREE WEEKS and FOUR WORKOUTS … and we’re finally DONE! Can you believe the 2021 CrossFit Open is OVER?! What an awesome 3 weeks from everyone at Nevermore.  After the year we’ve had, this was an AWESOME showing from everyone!

Thanks for your patience on these final workout calculations – we had a bit of an issue with the back end of the website, but we’re back up and running now!

21.3 and 21.4 really brought out that Olympic Spirit!

    • Shout out to Coaches: Austin, Alyssa & Jake and Members Sandy & Cynthia for taking photos at classes I couldn’t be at, so we made sure EVERYONE was captured in their element this past week 🙂 ! You’re all just regular paparazzi (also, shout out to Coach EmJ who rocked the paparazzi status Week 1 for me too!) – You’re all much appreciated!

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE END OF OPEN CELEBRATION NEXT WEEK!

  • Friday, April 9th
  • 6pm at the Mini Turf (assuming weather works in our favor).
  • IF IT RAINS: We will be postponing the celebration for another day (TBD). We want this to be a fun, outdoor, community event – so we’re not going to let rain make it gross.  Fingers crossed that Mother Nature is on our side!
    • Nevermore will be providing some food (think pizza & wings) and drinks (alcoholic and non), along with some other fun treats! If there’s anything else you’d like to eat or drink, please do not hesitate to  BYO – and come equipped with your own seating (and to have some fun)!

THERE’S STILL TIME FOR MORE POINTS, FOLKS!

21.5 IS……

  • NO – we’re not making you do another workout – but, you do have TWO (kind of three) MORE CHANCES to win more points this week!  Complete these, and you can get ALLLLL of the points to add on:

CHANCE # 1 (and 2):

  • Share this post on Facebook. You MUST add the hashtags #nevermorewellness and #laughmovegrow at the end of the post, so it’s searchable.  (Don’t worry if you don’t have Facebook, there’s a different option for you):
    • POST:
      • “Spring is here and Summer is RIGHT around the corner! Thinking about kicking your workout routine into high gear (or, maybe, just starting it)?! Check out this video and “meet” some of our Coaches at Nevermore, and learn why it CAN be a good fit for you!  Did I mention we have a special going… if you pay for an unlimited TWO months, Nevermore will cover your THIRD, completely – and it’s only available for the first 20 people!” #nevermorewellness #laughmovegrow   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZzqKYLXrjE&t=3s
  • No Facebook, No Worries!
    • Head on over to our YouTube Channel and SUBSCRIBE!  We need more subscribers to brand our channel, and this would be a HUGE help!  Here’s the kicker – you need to make it a PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION, so we can see if you subscribed in order to get the points!
      • Here’s how to make it a public subscription:
        • Sign in to YouTube.
        • In the top right, click your profile picture .
        • Click Settings .
        • In the left Menu, select Privacy.
        • Turn off “Keep all my subscriptions private”

CHANCE # 3:

  • We’ve got some GREAT surprises lined up for the End of Open Celebration – and in order to make them happen, we need to hear from YOU!  Fill out this form and let us know your FAVORITE memory from the 2021 Intramural Open!  You can put more than 1 – but you’ll still only get one point :).

YOU’LL HAVE UNTIL MONDAY APRIL 5TH AT 8PM TO COMPLETE THESE CHALLENGES.

  • Here’s how points will work:
    • You’ll get 1 point for every person who posts on Facebook, with the hashtags.
    • You’ll get 1 point for every person who subscribes to the YouTube Channel (with a public subscription).
    • Your TEAM will get 5 POINTS for every 5 people who complete the posting / subscribing tasks!
      • So, if you have 20 people on your team and everyone posts to Facebook – you’ll receive an extra 20 points! Same goes for the YouTube subscriptions – yes, that does mean an extra 40 points.
    • You’ll get 1 point for every person who fills out the Favorite Memory in the Open form.

READY, SET, GO!

SPIRIT OF 21.3 WINNERS!

FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS OPEN – WE HAD A TIE FOR SPIRIT POINTS!  There were THREE people who ALL GOT 17 votes – so, I consulted the admin team, and we decided all three will get the points. HOW COULD WE CHOOSE?!

The first one went ABOVE and BEYOND this week – he was going into the weekend completing the daunting task of a 33 mile run to honor his late brother … and decided to come in after the workout was announced on Thursday to complete the workout EARLY for his team – I know I’ve already given it away – but your first winner for Individual Spirit is JAKE FISHMAN!

Here’s what members had to say:

  • He ran 33 miles on Saturday and still got the open wod in on Thursday night even though that’s his dinner time and he HATES being late to his dinner time.
  • He did the wod Thursday night so that he could get in a score even though he ran the memorial 33 miles for his brother two days later. I can’t think of a more true spirit of sport and an authentic sense of team than this. He is, hands down, not just the spirit of this week but of what CrossFit, the Olympics, and all sports claim to value.
  • He helped get me out points on my speeding ticket and he is awesome!
  • Ummm doing 21.3 and 21.4 THURSDAY and then running 33 miles!
  • Doing the workout Thursday night so he could run an ultra on Saturday in honor of his brother. Again, someone that embodies the spirit of our community.
  • Jake has compassion for everything that he pursues unlike any other! Not only did he make every effort to perform this week’s open WOD prior to his big ultra marathon on Saturday, but he knocked them both out of the park and did them with pride! What an honor to witness and share a friendship with such a devoted soul.
  • How can you not vote for someone who committed to running 33 miles in his brother’s honor for the second year in a row, AND did 21.3/21.4 the night of the announcement to be sure he got it in?! If that isn’t the epitome of taking the gold during olympic week of the open, I don’t know what is.

The second person REALLY inspired and uplifted the community on Friday (and – to be honest- also terrified some of them…).  This person knows how to MOTIVATE (…yell), and knows how and when to push people – he knows how to get a good laugh out of everyone, and TRULY embraced the ‘Murica part of Olympics week, this week. If you know him – you love to love him (and grow used to his screaming) – congrats to NEIL ANDRITO !!!

Here’s What Members Had To Say:

  • Neil was our week 3 spirit captain (along with Jay Kramer!) and crushed it with beautiful Olympic decorations on the turf as well as coming to several classes this Friday in full on America gear to cheer others on. He’s also been running make up sessions at the turf each week of the open to support every
  • team in getting their workouts in. Proud to have him as a teammate and glad I didn’t see him lifting in his America-first banana hammock!
  • Amazing outfit, came to cheer on classes he wasn’t even participating in, sent coaching tips over text, and I could literally hear him in my screaming UUUUUPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!
  • Ok….when you say heart & grit, you always see Neil face. But, to see him in any competitive forum AND add patriotic Olympics in the mix. You have to give it to Neil. I really hope he gets recognized for what shows to everyone every day. And the bikini……….
  • Did you see him on Friday?! Neil exemplifies team spirit and American spirit. His cheering got me through 21.3 and 21.4. So grateful for his energy and coaching!
  • I mean you just had to be there to see it haha
  • More American than baseball

It feels a bit awkward, as the person composing this post to announce this one – but, the THIRD person to take home Spirit Points this week goes to ME – Kristin Carasiti. I’m grateful to all of you, and you made me cry – and that’s really all that matters here.

Here’s What Members Had To Say:

  • Kristin is a fantastic coach every day, but she really went above and beyond for the Open. She decorated, cheered us on, and was a constant ray of sunshine – no matter what challenges were thrown her way. We’d be lost without her!
  • Kristin has worked nonstop over the past three weeks to support this team; helping start and continue conversations about spirit ideas, helping coordinate and carry out those ideas, and being incredibly supportive of each of us. More than that, however, her spirit and support extends beyond our team. She is incredibly inclusive and a cheerleader for every athlete at Nevermore. I mean, she wished each team good luck during week 2!
  • She embodies the spirt of a supporting team member. She is there when you need her, she is there for encouragement and she is there for the fun.
  • Not only is she an amazing coach to all of us, she really captures the essence of the Open by being super supportive to all the teams!!
  • She’s everyone’s biggest cheerleader and does everything possible to get everyone feeling included and excited!
  • How does she not?! She’s been right there cheering EVERYONE on all of these weeks through the open. Personally for me she’s gotten me through 2 of the 3 workouts when I’ve thought of throwing in the towel part way through. She just embodies the spirit of the open!
  • She has done soooo much for not only our team, but all of the teams during the open this year. She was so creative in coming up with decorations and spirit activities. She was also extremely motivational at the classes she attended and personally helped me drive through a wall to do better. The amount of time and effort she put forth to the open is unbeatable. Thank you Kristin!
  • Because duh that’s why. Name one person over the last 3 weeks who has done more than Kristin to embody the spirit of the Open and make it fun, motivating, and exciting for everyone. Pro tip: you can’t.

TEAM SPIRIT WINNER!

Again, another awesome week of effort put forth by all the teams – the swim costumes in the AM, the ‘Murica decor on the Turf bight and early, the passing the torch video (and the Sturiale hilarity). GREAT efforts from so many people.   As always, when the votes were in, only one team could take it home

DRUM ROLL PLEASEEEEEE…..

Shout out to the winners this week, the “SOCIAL WIN-STANCING“!

The Passing The Torch video, and celebration of ALL countries on their team took the win!  Way to go to EVERYONE who participated – and gave it their all!
